New Meter Connection

Find out all you need to know about making a new meter connection

Niche required for a new water meter connection

To be applicable for a new water meter connection, it is required to have a niche at the border of the relevant property. It can be part of the fence of the property or it can stand alone. Within approximately 10 days after requesting a new connection, we will make an appointment with the client at property, to determine the location of the niche and/or to indicate this on the plan with location of the property (“situatietekening”).The niche must be built in accordance to WEB’s specifications. We will also let you know how long it will take to install the connection, once you have confirmed that the niche is ready. It is important to inform WEB when the niche is ready. You can do so by sending a mail to nis@webaruba.com. A map with the required specifications to build the niche is available at the counters of WEB Aruba or can be downloaded here.

Duration to get a connection for a new water meter

The waiting time for a new meter depends on the situation at the property. Each situation is unique.
Below are various situations and approximately how long it takes for the meter to be connected:

  • The existing pipeline runs directly in front of the property and there is already a connection for a meter: 2 or 3 days.

  • The existing pipeline runs in front of the property but there is no connection for the meter: 1 week.

  • The existing pipeline runs across the street from the property or is located on a neighboring property: 2 to 3 weeks.

  • The existing pipeline runs 50 m or more from the property:

    • An investigation at the site will determine how long it will take for the meter to be connected.

    • Up to 2 months.

  • If the property where the meter is requested is 250 m or more outside of WEB’s service area the client must pay half of the cost involved to connect the meter. An investigation at the site will determine how long it will take for the meter to be connected and the amount that the client will have to contribute:

    • After payment is received it will take a maximum of 2 months.

    • In many cases the composition of the ground can determine how long it will take for a meter to be connected.

The indicative times for installing a new water meter apply to all situations, whether you are building a new house or commercial building, getting a second water meter to your property or when applying for a meter with P rate.
